Equality Objectives

At Worlingworth CEVC Primary School, we are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers, irrespective of race, gender, disability, belief, religion or socio-economic background.

Schools are required to adhere to the following three aspects of the General Duty within the Equality Act 2010

  • Elimate unlawful discrimination, harassment and vitimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Act.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not
  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not

There are two specific duties that schools in England are required to carry out. These are:

  • to publish information to demonstrate how they are complying with the equality duty (including publishing their school composition in terms of protected characteristics)
  • to prepare and publish one or more specific and measurable equality objective

School Composition

Schools only need to share composition of staff if they have more than 150 employees. As our school has fewer than 150 employees, we do not need to publish this information.

Advance the equality of opportunity for people with protected characteristics

As with all aspects of their work to analyse and evaluate the impact of their work / provision; School leaders will use an appropriate range of data / information / evidence for their setting to analyse and ensure they are taking steps to meet differing needs of their cohort.

As a school we have analysed the data available to us, to set our Equality Objectives.

Equality Objectives

In order to further support pupils, raise standards and ensure inclusive teaching, we have set the following objectives:-

Objective 1: To monitor and analyse pupil progress by race, gender and disability and act on any trends or patterns in the data that require additional support for pupils.

Objective 2: To further develop student and staff resilience and self-worth. This applies to all pupils and staff, to promote equality and fairness

Objective 3: To review levels of parental and pupil engagement in learning and school life, across all activities to ensure equity and fairness in access and engagement.

Equalities information must be updated annually and progress towards objectives will be monitored and reviewed every year. In line with legislation, the objectives will be re-published formally, at least every 4 years.

Further information can be found in our 'Single Equality Policy' on the Policies page of our website.
